Situations in life can at times be upsetting, stressful or frustrating, and anger is a common emotional reaction to these situations. If you experience jealousy as a strong emotion you will know the feeling of it overtaking you and leaving you at its mercy. At times you will feel that jealousy rules your thoughts and actions, whilst wishing you could calm down so that you could better consider the situation. If jealousy is a strong feeling state for you, then like many people, you will also know the feelings of anger and resentment that come with it.
Significant change in the family can often lead to an increase in stress. Now think of stress as something that raises your level of irritation - once that irritation continues for a long time, you become more short-tempered and for many people anger starts to escalate. All of these changes can have a significant effect on ones sense of stability, comfort and safety.
Many people experience anger at times when they feel that they need something from another person which isn't being offered. For instance, you may feel concerned or frightened when your partner leaves you alone for too long, forgets to call or when they are showing interest in someone or something else in preference to you.
Do you sometimes wonder why your partner always bear the brunt of your stress and frustrations? Why you are cranky or mean to the people most close to you? Why you lash out at the people you love most in the world? Our partners are the people we are most close to and the people that we are most open and natural with.
Our working lives tend to be filled with high levels of responsibility and stress. Stress can make you prone to anger, and, if you have difficulty controlling your angry emotions you might find yourself flying off the handle at work, and engaging in inappropriate workplace behaviour.

Uncontrolled or inappropriately expressed workplace anger creates a negative working environment for others, makes it difficult for people to work with you and respond to your needs, and may ultimately get you fired! Our qualified counsellors and psychologists offer session times Monday - Saturday, including after hours A/H appointments.
