Chris Garvey qualified as an Australian Lawyer in 1985. He practised in England for 3 years and Northern Ireland for 2 years and is admitted as a solicitor in those jurisdictions. He also practises as a Notary Public. Having been admitted for 30 years, Chris has accumulated extensive personal experience and developed a strong network of specialist practitioners.

All instructions are handled personally with diligence and efficiency. Deb is our senior legal secretary and is the first person you will see when you come to our office. She has worked in law firms longer than she is prepared to admit and has been with Chris Garvey since 2008. She enjoys interaction with clients and the variety of tasks her position entails.
Services
Either party to a marriage can apply for a divorce order in the Family Court provided there has been a 12 month period of separation. Separation can occur when parties are no longer living together or have separated but remain living together under the same roof. The Court must be satisfied there are adequate arrangements in place for the care of any children under the age of 18 years before making an order.
The Executor of a Will may need to make application through a solicitor for a Grant of Probate to be able to distribute the estate to beneficiaries. If there is no Will then an application for Letters of Administration is necessary. We can assist with all aspects of estate administration including advice on succession planning for farms and businesses run through Companies, Family or Unit Trusts.
All transactions including set-up, administration, dismantling and vesting Family Trusts, Unit Trusts and Self Managed Superannuation Funds including vesting in beneficiaries of property held by trusts, advice on W.A. Transfer Duty implications of property transactions including family farm transactions, implementing your financial planners advice on acquisition of assets by Self Managed Superannuation Funds, using instalment warrant finance and all other in specie asset transfers to SMSF's.
A valid and current Will ensures that your assets are distributed in accordance with your wishes. The person you appoint as Executor must see that your estate is administered in the manner directed in your Will. If you do not have a Will then your estate is divided in accordance with the Administration Act.
