Services
Kay has lived in South East Queensland for most of the last 30 years, and is a mother to three sons of whom she is eminently proud. Having been through divorce more than once herself, Kay understands the emotions and difficulties that face separating families and is committed to helping her clients through one of the most difficult times they will face in their lives.
We mainly practice in family law, which includes divorce applications, parenting arrangements, and property division matters. Whether you're thinking about separation, or already separated, book a no obligation initial appointment with KEA Legal to find out your rights and responsibilities in relation to parenting and/or property matters.
Our Principal is also an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. This means she is available as an independent, private mediator for parenting and/or property matters.
Under family law in Australia, the family dispute resolution (FDR) process, or mediation, was implemented to encourage parents (and others) to make a "genuine effort" at reaching agreement on a range of separation issues - most importantly about arrangements for children.Only accredited FDR practitioners can issue a "60I certificate", which verifies participation in mediation and is generally required before beginning legal action.

The Family Court website has several publications available for view or download including the prescribed brochure Marriage, Families and Separation with information on: social and legal effects of separation; services provided to families by the Family Court, Federal Circuit Court, and government, community and other agencies; as well as steps involved in court proceedings.

I have no hesitation in recommending Kea Legal to any woman trying to deal with all the emotions of separation, domestic violence, child matters, divorce and family court.
Having a professional that explains the legal system in a way that the average person can understand made the process so much easier for myself.
Kay was kind and compassionate and was always in my corner with great knowledge of the legal system and always gave sound advice making me feel confident in the decisions I made.
