My name is Kate O'Connor and I am a clinical psychologist and psychodynamic therapist working from Turrbal and Jagera land in Brisbane, Australia. I work with fellow healers, artists and innovators who are seeking help with finding meaning in their lives and might be feeling creatively blocked, burnt out, or out of alignment.
I offer potent, embodied, conversational therapy that aims to invite you to rest, heal, and tune back into your own intuition, so that you might retrieve a richer, more colourful vision of yourself and your future.

Services
My practice is inclusive of people from all walks of life. My patients are typically people who are seeking therapy not just to relieve their symptoms, but to really know themselves.
You might have struggled at different times with mental health issues like depression, anxiety or post-traumatic stress, but underneath these symptoms, you're probably wrestling with broader questions about who you are, what you're for and how your role in your career and relationships fits within a philosophy that feels right to you.

I'm a psychodynamic therapist and clinical psychologist based in Brisbane, Australia. I offer clinical supervision and individual therapy to adults from my rooms in the Brisbane CBD. I also draw from healing ideologies which acknowledge the connectedness of mind and body.
I think my particular offering is a position between two worlds - between the clinical or theoretical, and that which is particular, intuitive and mystical in each individual's story. As a therapist, I am curious, warm and authentic. I'm really in the room with my patients, and I see the relationship I have with them as a central part of their safety and healing in therapy.

Some people choose their therapist on instinct, but others want to know a lot of information about what they're signing up for. For the latter, I've shared here my particular understanding of the important aspects of therapy, and what I hope to offer each patient who comes to see me. I hope this will provide you with what you need to make the right decision about whether this kind of support might be a good fit for you.
I offer psychodynamic supervision for psychologists and helping professionals who are interested in exploring their clinical work and professional identity from this lens. I especially love working with early-career clinicians who have been left curious about psychoanalytic thinking following their training, and would like a safe, collaborative relationship in which to deepen their knowledge in this area.
After an initial period of my getting to know you and learning about your history, each session is a time for you to speak freely about whatever is on your mind. After a lifetime in our very structured world, this can feel strange or take a little getting used to. The time we have together has no agenda, so that we can make space to uncover what is truly urgent, intrinsic and as yet unheard within you.
