I am a registered psychologist and have been in private practice since 2006. Prior to being in this role I have accumulated extensive experience in the community sector (since 1991) in roles including youth worker, family support worker, group facilitator, family and individual counselor and as a psychologist.
The challenges we face in life can be overwhelming and result including depression symptoms, anxiety, grief, anger, post-traumatic stress, life stress and adjustment issues. Regaining a sense of calm and clarity necessary for approaching these emotional challenges is essential. It is possible to slow things down, take a breath and a long hard look at what you believe life could be for you.
When sadness becomes all encompassing, drains us of energy and gets in the way of enjoying the important things in life, it has more than likely become depression. If you're feeling stuck, it might be time to seek treatment. Awareness and calm uses modern therapeutic techniques to create short and long term change.
Seeking treatment for anxiety can be daunting. It can be yet another thing to have to work up the courage to face. The program I have developed is invaluableto the long term treatment of anxiety. Promoting awareness and calm can open a person up to a new way of experiencing the world. This anxiety treatment encourages you to 'Face Everything And Rise' (FEAR).
Grief and loss can be overwhelming. It is a process that can feel like it goes on for an eternity. Sometimes we can get lost in it. Acceptance of a loss can be the key to overcoming an event. Yet it can be tough to reach especially when ideas about what 'Acceptance' is can be many and varied. The grief process can also be complicated by feeling stuck in some of the emotions or worse still feeling thrown around by the mix of thoughts and feelings.
