All sorts of people of varying ages come to see me about many issues that are affecting them in their everyday life, issues a t home, at work, in their relationships. They may have mood issues that lead to anxiety or depressed mood, difficult mood swings, fears, phobias and panic reactions, work stress, anger issues, grief and loss, family concerns or conflict, relationship issues, sexual concerns, or other issues.
People come to see me about all sorts of issues. Above are just a few examples. Therapy is a process that helps you to better understand yourself and the often unhelpful recurring patterns of behaviour that lead to frustration and unhappiness. The process helps you find better ways, to use your mind, emotions, body, behaviour, strengths, values and beliefs to enhance your life.
Most people experience difficulties in their relationships at some stage in their lives. Issues are often too difficult to work through on your own. Working with a psychologist to improve your relationship can be one of the most satisfying things you and your partner can do. The benefits of a more satisfying and fulfilling relationship can be achieved by either working individually or in couples.
Personal Happiness and well-being is enhanced by supportive relationships, so learning how to relate well to others is an important life skill. Special skills are needed to deal with the emotional issues which arise in our relationships. When you work with a registered psychologist you can gain new perspectives that will enable you to improve your relationships and achieve greater fulfilment.
When couples separate they can be overwhelmed by the difficulties they face. Yet many very important and difficult decisions need to be made about the future at this time. Children grieve the losses of separation just as parents do. Their sense of loss can be particularly difficult when the parents are in conflict.
