We have found this company to be outstanding during the pandemic. I had a cruise booked in Galapagos. After sending in a detailed spreadsheet with my claim, I received all of my money back including credit card charges. I received a full refund from LATAM for my flight but they were prepared to refund that too, if it didn’t go through. It took a while to settle my claim but understandable in light of the current situation. Have used TID for all my travel insurance for about 10 years. Always got it because they were the cheapest but never had to claim until my last trip and it was awesome. They sorted me right out. I got sick abroad and they looked after me. Can’t recommend enough. Hot tip: always get travel insurance.

0/5 - I thought Travel Insurance Direct were a great company until my latest incident has prompted me to find a new travel insurance company. Unfortunately due to a terrorist attack, my flight was delayed causing me to stay an additional night and losing a nights stay in my accomodation booked. I was told on the phone that the claim may have an exclusion but there would be no limit to it and that you can still submit it. To my understanding I thought TID had my back in this situation like they had before when I travelled to Malaysia.

Very disappointed with my claim result. I feel totally conned and ripped off by TID, I was delayed by 25 hours, but subsequently found out I wasn’t insured if it was the airline’s fault. As delays are mainly caused by the airlines, you would think it would be covered as a travel insurance standard, I was very surprised it wasn’t. As the delay was so long, my original connections were lost, I was forced to buy an alternative ticket for $1000 AUD (cheapest option at the time) to get to my final destination, but I was then told, alternative flight costs weren’t covered either. So far the worst experience I’ve ever had. Purchasing the insurance was quick and easy however if you’re looking to make a claim, expect disappointment and long turn around time. I tried calling their office and was literally on hold for over 1.5 hours and no one picked up. Made a claim online and not til 11 days later did someone email me back requesting additional paperwork which was fine, but after providing additional details still no answer after another 12 days. I even sent a follow up email and have no response. It’s been over 2 months since I’ve lost my luggage and I still haven’t

About a week before I left I got into a panic and again started to research Travel Insurance. I was about to purchase from the company I had previously used many times when I recalled going through this process before and then going back through past emails I found the one I purchased from your company.
While your email on my return was unexpected and appreciated I would suggest that your customer service should send an email a week or two before your customer leaves on their travels. This will

We have been using Travel Insurance Direct for about 5 years for all of our holiday travels. This has included holidays to many Asian & European destinations as well as skiing trips in Japan. TID always offer a competitive premium & are always ready to assist if you have any issues whilst travelling. The one outstanding thing is that they always contact you when you get back to see if all is ok & that you had a safe trip. Outstanding!
