Loxton is one of the Riverland's five major towns and, some say, the prettiest of all. Its vibrant, extra-wide, village-style main street is unique, because most businesses are still independently owned and run. Loxton is proudly local. With the glorious Murray River at the end of the shopping precinct, the town of Loxton is a regional success story, as is the Loxton Hotel, one of South Australia's great country pubs!
Established in 1908 the historic Loxton Hotel is proudly owned by the Loxton community, channeling profits back into local charities, projects and events. The magnificent and massive hotel building has been extensively renovated, ensuring a seamless blend of new modern hotel and motel accommodation, facilities and heritage areas.

Highly recommended to not eat here if gluten free, despite options on the menu. After eating just before new years eve, never again. After asking at ordering to make sure was gf and asking the kitchen. My order arrived with most of it being questionable. Server going back and asking kitchen to be ridiculed that I wasn't coeliac only gf so food was fine. They 'could' replace my meal but would be another 45 minutes. These kinds of experiences make it very difficult to eat out when you have severe reactions to food, especially when it is ment to be catered for.

The lady who served me behind the bar was great and knowledgeable. However, we waited for at least 45 minutes for meals on a Wednesday lunch with few customers. I ordered the vegan bowl, which should not take long to make. It was small and very disappointing for the price. Thank goodness my son couldn't finish his wedges or I would have been left very hungry.

Was down for a funeral booked in for overnight stay as well. Great atmosphere with dining - really need to book ahead as locals already know what's going. Overnight stay was comfy no fuss but check in is at 2pm - next time will stay longer to see the sights. Come give it a try as you won't be disappointed but beware weekend shops aren't open all day check when booking in...country town. 😊
