According to the famous Torres Strait legend, if you have a taste of the juicy fruit from the Wongai Tree, you will always return. The Wongai Beach Hotel was built in 1991, and originally only consisted of a public bar and dining room with four hotel units. It was slowly but surely renovated until it grew into what it is today; a four star hotel boasting a public bar, beer gardens, restaurant, pool and spa, and gaming / Tab facilities.

Good watering hole. Icy cold beers. Friendly staff. Tasty food. Pool table. Sport TVs. Outside beer garden. You can dine or take away.

It's ok. Rooms are clean. Air con works but it is a bit noisy, pool must have been about 35 Dec. Can I give 3.5 stars

My favourite accommodation between Horn and Thursday. The rooms are modern, clean and well stocked for breakfast goodies.
Restaurant meals are great value for money.
Pub meals are huge and delicious.

Nice hotel with a great lazy pool. The accommodation is comfortable and clean, air-conditioned and with a TV. Shower worked quite well. They even give you food and drinks in the fridge, bread to cook for breakfast or cereal if you prefer. The meals were well cooked and reasonably priced.

Steak was great, add the prawns if you like them. A bit expensive but to be honest everything up here is. The rooms are self contained and are good, clean and comfortable, the bar is good drinks are cold and sitting outside is great while you have your drink. Not too busy and the staff are more than happy to help and show you around.

Service generally friendly. Room in good order. Shuttle bus to/from airport cost $$ each way. Was under the impression it was included in cost of accommodation. Food not bad. Beer cold.

Recently stayed here for 4 weeks, excellent service. Hat off to Keith the chef, great food champ. Also thanks to Melissa and Yaz, (hopefully I spelled it correctly, sorry if I didn't) very friendly staff. If I am ever at Horn Island again I will be staying at the Wongai! Thanks to all.

My church family has been coming over for the last 4-5 weeks and stayed at Wongai have said wonderful things about how the service is delivered. They've been taken good care. Thank you for making them feel like home. They love the food, the rooms and most of all the friendly staff. I recommended this place any days to anyone travelling to horn.
