Apex Driving School has been teaching driver education throughout Canberra for over 30 years. We bring the future in driver training directly to ACT residents with the most professional instructors. We have a reputation for offering every level of driver-ed to every kind of learner driver, from those who have never touched a car before to those who just want to brush up on their driving skills.
If you currently hold a learners license from another state in Australia e.g. NSW, VIC, QLD, etc, you are able to have driving lessons in the ACT and then attempt a one off Government Driving Assessment but cannot use the ACT Log Book method. If you pass this assessment first time, you will receive an ACT provisional license (which has no special speed restrictions as in some other states).
We are often asked whether we can do a "one-off test" but no driving school or driving instructor can do these tests for you. This test is also known as a "Government Test" or "Government Assessment". These "one off tests" can only be conducted by Access Canberra. The Government does not supply the car for the test so you must supply one whether it's your own car, a borrowed car or a car hired from a driving school.
You can start having LOG BOOK lessons from any stage of your driving. This system is a low stress method of obtaining a license and approximately 75% to 80% of learner license holders use this method. To complete the log book there are 23 competencies you must be able to achieve and 2 Assessments. It is possible to have any or even all of these competencies signed off within the first couple of lessons if you do well enough and time allows.
A. A standard lesson is for one hour but you can have lessons of different lengths of time if requested. Bulk purchases may be organised with your instructor and transferred to their account if requested. You can purchase a Gift Voucher for as many or as few a lesson as you like and the recipient of the Voucher just brings it to their lesson to be signed by the instructor each time.
