Great Southern Pearls was born out of an unexpected and exciting discovery when we found Akoya Oysters growing 1000km south of their previously reported habitat range. Our Akoya pearls are cultured in the pristine waters of the Southern Ocean, off the coast of Albany, Western Australia. The mild temperatures, abundance of food and pristine water quality provides the perfect oceanic conditions for producing beautiful, lustrous Akoya pearls.

In 2008 we discovered Akoya oysters (Pinctada imbricata fucata) naturally growing on our existing mussel farm, some 1000km south of their previously reported habitat range. We were excited to investigate the possibility of producing pearls in such a unique location. After experimenting with some basic culturing techniques we were quickly rewarded with a beautiful little batch of Akoya pearls.
We grow Saltwater Akoya Pearls. Our pearls are generally white and golden with overtones of rose, champagne, silver and violet ranging in size from 6-11mm. Akoya Pearls are famous for their magnificent lustre and have long been considered the classic pearl. Akoya pearls are very 'wearable' and are ideal for matching and for use in multi-pearl jewellery such as bracelets and strands.

The food was really delicious and the decor was very comfortable.
I ordered the grits and shrimp, fried balls (4 pieces), and a tasty gin drink.
I would have given this place 5 stars had the staff been more attentive and engaging. It felt like they didn't care to be there at all.
-I asked for a recommendation for a drink and the lady asked if I saw the electronic menu.
-my food was dropped off at my table (literally). The guy then just walked away. I didn't have spoon and he didn't ask if I needed anything with it. (Just didn't seem to care)
-they also brought the check promptly before my

I went with two friends for the first time, we loved the ambience and the food was to dying for, drinks are wonderful, very authentic southern food. The server wasn't attentive also kept ignoring our table when we're ready to order more drinks and the main course. They need to improve more with the server's.

Let’s talk experience! Upon walking in the scenery is absolutely beautiful. The exposed brick and high ceilings really draw you in and give you a rustic feel. We were met at the hostess stand and greeted immediately. There was no wait so we were seated instantly. There is a QRC code on each table so you can get the menu immediately… Within moments of sitting down, we were greeted by our waiter and provided with water. He arrived at the table with a smile on his face and was very inviting as a whole.

Good take on southern food, but as a southerner wanting a taste of home this didn't quite make the mark. Mac and cheese was very bland, crawfish cheesecake ratio of creme cheese to everything else made it also very mild.
Plus side, those cat fish bites were 🏼 chefs kiss. Moist, seasoned, southern.
Not bad if you're hankering for a taste of home but don't expect too much
