Off-grid solar system installation is not an easy task. Many connections and cable terminations require significant time during installation. We have come across Ingeteam off grid inverter as a best solution for our systems installations. This allows us to reduce our systems prices and have better control of system performance.
An off-grid solar system that is not for everyday use should be designed in a very economical way. It is better to use a small off-grid inverter with the ability to input solar panels and use an inexpensive 48v solar battery bank. A traditional lead-acid battery can be used to make the system cheaper as the system does not require a long cycle life for batteries.
Traditional grid connected solar systems consist of solar panels connected to a grid-tied inverter. These systems can only produce power if grid energy is available. The system will shut down if grid power supplies are down. The power export limit to the grid is usually 5kW which is related to the size of solar inverter.
In both cases, repair is not possible. Inverter or isolators have to be replaced. A less common problem is solar panel failure. This is usually difficult or impossible to repair, and most of the time are not worth repairing. Panels commonly get replaced or just bypassed. Commonly people think that they need a new system or more panels or mistakenly think there is some other reason why they run out of power.

We live in a 100% off grid environment. Had Re-Energy do an inverter upgrade and install more batteries.
Fred is a great bloke, easy to deal with and has an excellent knowledge base.
