It was Tania's connection to Tinamba that drew her own family back to the region from Melbourne. Born in Maffra, Tania's family are well-known across Gippsland, with her grandfather, Ern Durrant working as the last station master at Tinamba.
With much of her family still living in the area and Simon's extensive experience working within the fresh produce industry, they knew the opportunity to take over the hotel's reigns and move their family to Tinamba felt right.Using the finest, locally grown fresh produce from local suppliers and working with the most talented chefs in the region is what the Johnsons believe sets Tinamba Hotel apart.

In they come, out of the paddocks and into the front bar of Gippsland's Tinamba Hotel. It's Boags all round here and Home and Away on the wide screen. Just another country watering hole, you might think, until you step into Tinamba's restaurant next door. Suddenly, you're in a more genteel place. A dining room of pleated lamps and linen napkins where a log heater glows in one corner and a black grand piano awaits some ivory tinkling in the other.

Outstanding service and the food was faultless. We sat outside and shortly after we sat down one of the staff bought a bowl of water for our dog, which we had brought with us. Staff were very friendly. Food was exquisite and well priced. Definitely recommend this to travellers looking for a quality lunch or dinner experience.

An incredible experience.
Tinamba Hotel was flexing its muscles when my partner and I came over for lunch on a Saturday. With impeccable service to boot, some standouts on the meal included a perfect duck dish that had all the makings of a classic that cannot be removed from the menu. To a refreshing take on a classic crème brulee that boasted the use of aged beef fat alongside a perfect splash of whisky.
We devoured both of the courses above and four more, each with its highlights.

From start to finish, our overall experience could not have been better. Friendly, attentive staff without being overbearing and nothing was too much trouble. The food was superb. Excellent value. Beautiful, classy building and the decor and lighting made it feel warm. 10/10 would (highly) recommend. A must visit when in the Gippsland region.

Unreal food quality and great local wine. Great staff and set up . I could only ask as a vegetarian it would be awesome to see one or two more main options. Understand it's likely not a big market down this way but I love taking out of town visitors to the hotel and enjoy it as a regular spot for a fine dinning experience.
