Services
Colthorpe Lawyers specialise in criminal defence law, this includes defending all prosecutions for traffic related offences, licence reviews and the lifting of immediate police suspensions of licence. We frequently deal with simple traffic offences such as speeding and other minor offences but also drink driving offences, driving whilst disqualified, driving to evade police, in a manner dangerous and cause injury or death by negligent driving.
A Magistrate is called "Your Honour" and it is necessary to stand when being addressed by the Magistrate or talking to the Magistrate. The prosecution of most summary and less serious offences are handled by the Police prosecutors, attached to the local Criminal Justice Section.

Major Indictable or more serious offences that are going through the committal stage are handled by the (office of) the Director of Public Prosecutions (see 'COURTS' section). In country regions even these matters are prosecuted by the police prosecution section. Commonwealth prosecutions, such as Centrelink or Taxation matters are handled by the Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Trials conducted in the magistrate's court are normally handled by the police prosecutors. The court is presided upon by a magistrate, there is no jury. At the commencement the accused will be required to answer the charge. The court will read the charge(s) and a plea of not guilty is entered. From there the accused shall be in the court throughout the entire case, normally seated in the front row of the gallery.
In SA the main sources of criminal offences are contained within the Criminal Law Consolidation Ac ( eg. assaults, murder, rape etc), the Summary Offences Act (Disorderly behaviour, resisting arrest and other behavioural offences etc) and the Road Traffic Act (Due Care, Drink driving etc.) and the Controlled Substances Act for drug related offences.
There are numerous sentencing options available to magistrates and judges. Before sentencing, the court may wish to order a pre-sentence report. Reports and references may be provided to the court, relevant to the defendant's personal circumstances. This may include medical reports, character references, proof of income/employment or other relevant documents.

Came up on my newsfeed so instantly I disliked them spamming on my feed, because I seen it on Facebook of all things they will be the last people I would consult if I had trouble in Christies Beach.
