Services
Sifu was brought up in an era when the Chinese often fell victim to bullying from biker gangs and his kung fu training saw him overcome many, many vicious battles. His reputation as a fighter was well known and he is respected by all martial artists for his accomplishments and teaching ability.

In 2004 Sifu was appointed Chairman of the Queensland AKWF before resigning in 2010 to focus on developing and spreading our new style of Kung Fu - Henry Sue Circular Tong Long (Yuen Mo Pai Tong Long). He has trained for over 56 years and been teaching martial arts for over half a century in what is Queensland's longest running Kung Fu Academy.
Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu is a complete martial arts system based on the rapid, powerful moves of the Praying Mantis. It is renowned for its devastating hitting power. If you train consistently you will develop formidable weapons to defend yourself. We will train you in rapid, repetitive heavy strikes using fingers, hands, elbows, knees, feet, and head.
An amazing opportunity to train with Sifu Henry Sue and friendly, qualified and helpful Masters and instructors. Henry Sue Circular Tong Long is everything I have ever been searching for in a martial art. I am truly amazed at each level I progress, and wonder what could possibly come next. I look forward to experiencing every step of this journey and passing this incredible art on to my children and beyond.
Our Sifu (teacher) is an AKWF and CKFA Accredited Coach of Chinese martial arts with a current first aid qualification and a current QLD Blue Card or equivalent state certification to teach children (and adults) in Australia. After taking at least 10 years to achieve the first degree of Master Level each subsequent CKFA masters degree takes, on average, an additional 4 years to achieve.
The best way to learn Kung Fu is to find a good school with a qualified teacher (Sifu) and then be a good student by watching, listening, copying and training well. It is difficult to find good schools and good teachers so our advice to all prospective students is to search many different martial arts schools until you find the one you like before you commit your time and fees to a school that may not deliver what you expect.

A great style to add to your martial arts arsenal.
The style enabled me to defend myself in several dangerous situations - against larger opponents, multiple opponents and armed opponents.
Been a member for 10+ years and can say it's also a great community to be a part of.

This school offers the whole package. It’s built on principle. It has a fantastic philosophy based on respect for elders parents and teachers. The motto is to train to be kind, humble, and generous first and then to train kung fu. But from day one you begin learning some of the most practical defenses possible. With tai chi and lion dancing, weaponary and chi gung this art challenges the highest achievers. If you are a perfectionist or looking for inspiration, if you want to defend or discover yourself this school is structured such that if you stick at it you will learn. I would recommend this

I've been going to the women's self defence class for about 9 months, and joined the beginner Kung Fu classes more recently. In both, the teachers are very dedicated to developing their student's skills at the students own pace, while being very encouraging. The women's classes are a bit more casual, however Grandmaster Henry tutors us himself and the skills I've learnt have really built up my confidence to deal with something unexpected that could happen in the real world. The techniques are designed for defending yourself against a much larger/stronger opponent, and are very effective. The women

Has always been a challenging but very rewarding experience training at the CKFA. Highly recommended for people who are looking to challenge themselves both physically and mentally. All of the instructors are very open and giving of there time and are very willing to work hard to get the best out of their students.

I joined up to the women's class last year & really enjoyed the experience. The women's class is overseen by Grandmaster Sue, red & brown belt masters and we often have one instructor per 1-2 students. For someone who has never done martial arts before & is more than a little uncoordinated, having such close attention was invaluable. I really like how every class is different & we cover a wide range of techniques (hand pads, punching bags, small weapons & hand-to-hand fighting). The price is very reasonable considering how much time you have with the masters. Everyone is super friendly & the class

Fantastic academy! The outstanding culture and mutual respect between instructors and students provides a great foundation for the school.
I am a recently joined student, and the academy has been very welcoming. With the combined experience of four on-site Masters and plenty of highly trained and capable instructors, I have been steadily learning the intricacy and beauty of this art.
If you are serious about learning Kung Fu, or some form of Martial Arts, drop in and give the Beginner Package a try, I couldn't recommend this academy more highly.

I've found this school to be the real deal. The instruction is accurate and the focus is on teaching normal people the skills and reality of fighting. The instructors encourage values of respect, leadership, confidence etc. They don't give away belts so if you're prepared to work hard you'll get some solid training you can rely on when it matters. 5 stars.

I've been training here for a couple of years and have really appreciated the depth of knowledge and the level of care demonstrated by the instructors. The founder of this school has been practicing the art for over 60 years and it shows both in his instruction, and in the instruction that is given by his instructors.
I'd highly recommend this school.

A well established school with a surprising number of instructors who are all passionate and great teachers. I couldn't speak more highly of Grandmaster Henry Sue himself whose teaching is caring and insightful. The style its self is combat focussed yet incredibly refined and quite challenging.
