Childbirth Education Association
Childbirth Education Association Darwin is a not for profit community organisation. We are funded by the Health Department to provide independent antenatal education to women and their families in the Darwin and Palmerston regions. A volunteer committee of women, who have all given birth in Darwin, run CEA.

We are passionate about assisting other families to learn about birth, understand their choices during childbirth and have support throughout the early months of parenting. Qualified Childbirth Educators or Midwives teach all of our courses and workshops. We are dedicated to providing high quality, evidence based, local and up to date information.
Services
With regularly updated content reflecting internationally recognised, evidence-based research, CEA's Birth Preparation Course has been helping Darwin and Palmerston families prepare wholistically for birth since the 1970s. Our objective is that after attending a Birth Preparation Course you will have the knowledge, confidence and skills to navigate the many choices and challenges of pregnancy, birth and early parenting.
Pregnancy (Antenatal) Yoga classes are designed to help women prepare physically and mentally for a positive, confident birth. Taught by a specialist Antenatal Yoga teacher the class is appropriate for women at any stage of pregnancy. Postures include a beautiful combination of stretching, strengthening and relaxation exercises useful for birth.
We hope you will carry on with the Yoga you did during pregnancy by joining Emily for her casual and relaxed outdoor dry season Mums and Bubs classes. These are Emily's own classes so for information and updates please refer to Emily's Facebook page: Emilyogalady. Please bring along your own mat, water bottle, a blanket or mat for bubba as well as some toys to keep bub interested.
Morning teas provide a comfortable, baby-friendly environment to explore gentle parenting techniques. Each topic provides insights into how to meet your baby's needs while still looking after yourself. Morning teas are held monthly at the Nightcliff Community Centre and suit babies from birth to around 18 months.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this course, it was extremely informative and always focussed on getting to know the evidence and how to consider it for your own circumstance. We feel so empowered to know what to expect and to be able to make our choices for pregnancy, our birth plan and beyond. It is delivered in a relaxed friendly small group setting by extremely knowledgeable midwives. Highly recommended!

A fantastic resource for the journey into motherhood and beyond. They offer great pregnancy yoga classes, a rich library full of every book related to birth and fabulous women to ask any questions about your birth or new baby. They also have monthly meetings where you can bring bub and meet with other like minded women.
