Services
Our motel rooms are excavated off an impressive hallway going deep into the hillside, up to 50m at ground level and nearly 20m underground. All 15 rooms showcase the natural sandstone rock with modern furnishing and fittings and have all the essentials you need during your stay. This was a brilliant place to stay.
Whether you are flying or driving you will enjoy the landscape this beautiful country offers. Coober Pedy is not a big town however it does spread out across some distances in regards to tourist attractions. If you arriving by bus or plane you will need to hire a car to get to the motel as there are no taxis, public transport, uber or transfers services in town.
Coober Pedy is in the South Australian Outback - below are some distances from major stops. On the corner of Umoona Rd & Hutchison St you will pass the Coober Pedy Drive-In located on your right hand side, KEEP HEADING STRAIGHT on Hutchison Rd and you will need to take the second street on your right, Catacomb Road.
Staying or living underground is only part of what makes Coober Pedy an exciting destination. Coober Pedy was world renowned as the 'Opal Capital of the World' from the opal mining boom and still serves as an opal mining town but more importantly a tourist destination. Whether you are driving the Explorer Highway (Adelaide to Darwin) or trekking the Streslecki and Oodnadatta track, Coober Pedy is a must see destination.

Amazing atmosphere right as you walk into the foyer & a great insulated room chipped away stone awaits you inside! ) AAA+++
The bathroom is sensational as well.
Maybe it would have been an extra special experience if the room was actually downstairs & underground as well.
Definitely worth the experience though if you get a chance to go through Coober Pedy, SA.

Wow! We loved our underground room so much we didn't want to leave. The hosts were most welcoming and our room had been beautifully refurbished, one of the best rooms we've stayed in. Our family room with large bed and two singles was perfect for our family and our kids loved the adventure of being underground. We would definitely stay here again!

Had a brilliant overnight stay at this unique and well-appointed motel. We booked the family room for two adults and three children. The room was spacious and loved the modern bathroom and fixtures against the beautiful textured sandstone walls. Nice and clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay. A beautiful night’s sleep underground is what every traveller to Coober Pedy must experience! The vibe of this family-run motel is warm, friendly and absolutely professional. Look forward to staying again when we are in Coober Pedy!
