When yoga was first introduced into the West early in the 20th century the style and form of yoga recommended the practice of 'sitting still' within each posture by holding it, while at the same time focusing internally rather than externally. This style of yoga was appropriate for that time and helped to cultivate inner strength as well as physical grace and poise.
More than one hundred years have passed since then and our needs are very different. With the rapid rate of technological advancement, we find ourselves constantly bombarded with stimuli, fitting more into every day and living our lives at an ever faster pace. With such a lifestyle, moments for stillness and quiet reflection are very rare.

I enjoy Dru Yoga at the Canberra Yoga Centre because it allows me to find some inner calm in a supportive and non-judgemental atmosphere. DRU yoga helps me to balance my life and gives me space. I love the flow of it and how it energises but also relaxes me. Canberra Yoga Centre is great and I really enjoy how each class flows and that lovely 'float out the door' feeling at the end of every class!
Flowing sequences to improve physical strength, provide mental clarity and emotional balance. We provide a nurturing and safe practice with general guidelines for the practice, each class is thoughtfully planned, but no responsibility will be taken for any injuries you may incur during this practice.
