Sharon completed her dental degree at the University of Queensland in 1990. She had a Defence Force scholarship and completed her return of service at RAAF base Williamtown in Newcastle. She then returned to Brisbane, practising in Everton Hills and Mitchelton. In 2004 she established the Ferny Dental Care practice in Ferny Hills and has enjoyed watching it grow and become part of the community.
The best way to maintain good oral hygiene is to brush and floss your teeth and to visit your dentist for regularly. Your dentist not only examines your teeth for signs of decay or damage, he also looks for early signs of gum disease and oral cancer. It is normally recommended that you visit your dentist twice a year, although people who have severe gum disease or a weakened immune system may need to visit the dentist more often.
Fillings are the most common type of 'restorative treatment'. A filling replaces the part of the tooth that has been lost because decay has caused a cavity in the tooth or because the tooth has broken. One option in restoring the tooth is to have a white filling, commonly known as a 'Composite Filling'.
A crown is a tooth shaped cover which fits over the existing structure of your natural tooth to protect and restore the tooth's function. After root canal treatment, to help strengthen the tooth. Crowns can be made using the following materials - all metal (often gold)or tooth coloured crowns such as porcelain fused to metal (often gold or a gold alloy), full ceramic (porcelain) or composite (plastic with glass particles embedded).
Tooth whitening has become one of the most popular ways to improve your smile by lightening the existing shade of your natural teeth. This is a simple and effective treatment which can be carried out by your dentist or at home. Tooth whitening is non-invasive treatment which does not involve drilling or removal of the tooth surface.

My whole family have been going here for years. I am not a huge fan of dental visits so the fact I am a long term customer of Sharon's says how good she is at what she does. Sharon and her staff are friendly and helpful and always happy to explain what is happening and needs to be done to fix or prevent issues in the future. They will remind you when it is time again for another checkup and very accommodating with bookings etc when plans go awry.

Made the best decision to see Dr. Ewing at Ferny Dental Care. Was recommended through friends and was not disappointed. She explained to me in detail my dental concerns and helped me to accomplish the perfect smile. I am so pleased with my experience and the staff are absolutely great. Would highly recommend everyone to go here!
