Hobart Cardiology and Medical Specialists provides an extensive suite of cardiological care. We also offer neurology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, general medicine, respiratory medicine, orthopaedics and endocrinology specialist medical care. Local expertise along with visiting medical specialists from the mainland allow us to provide a comprehensive cardiological service on-site.
Dr Michael Coombes has over 20 years experience as a Cardiologist. He trained at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, as a General Physician. He then underwent training at Royal Hobart Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide, in Cardiology. He subsequently received advanced training in echocardiography and electrophysiology and has completed a course in CT angiography.
Dr Jonathan Lipton is a cardiologist and electrophysiologist at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Hobart Private and Royal Melbourne Hospital. He completed his medical degree in the Netherlands, trained in cardiology and got his PhD at the Erasmus Medical Center and subsequently trained in cardiac electrophysiology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Dr MacIntyre is a Staff Specialist Neurologist at the Royal Hobart Hospital. She completed her neurology training in Hobart and St Vincent's Hospital before obtaining a fellowship in Neurophysiology and Neuroimmunology at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne.
She accomplished her Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Newcastle (Australia) in 2007, before undergoing postgraduate training at Hunter New England Network of hospitals in NSW and the Royal Hobart Hospital in Tasmania.She completed the RACP physician examination in 2012. Dr MacIntyre aims to deliver comprehensive and holistic care for neurology patients.

Doctor Sarah Hewer is a staff specialist at The Royal Hobart Hospital and a visiting neurologist at Hobart Private and Calvary Hospital in Hobart. Her undergraduate medical training was undertaken at the University of Tasmania, where she obtained her medical degree in 2006. She was awarded the Pfizer pharmacology prize in 2006.
