Since starting his journey in the martial arts in 1988, David has had forays into various styles including tae kwon do, karate, muay thai and boxing. Although he enjoyed training, he found the more traditional styles were either too focused on the sport side of martial arts, or were lacking in what they had to offer.
Developed in 1979, Freestyle Combat is one of Australia's, if not the world's most complete and practical systems of self defence / self development. Not all Martial Arts systems are the same. Master Instructor Mick Nicholls has spent a vast amount of time and Energy developing this diverse, dynamic system which blends concepts, techniques and principals from some of the worlds most practical and often exotic martial art systems.
Please contact us for information on our current class schedule. Classes available in Freestyle Combat, Adult Self Defence & Personal Protection (UDC) and boxing. All new students get two obligation free lessons in order to see if they enjoy the classes. If the student then wants to continue their training, membership and uniforms are organised (note that UDC classes do not require uniforms).
What are the advantages of training in a modern system as opposed to a traditional system? A. Most modern systems blend modern principles and concepts, concentrating on defensive strategies for today's society. They also use today's sports science concepts in as far as warm-ups and training methods.
