AVOID ROOM 15!
I booked at the Merewether based on it's ranking as best value place to stay in Newcastle according to TripAdvisor. Upon arrival I was told I was in Room 15, which is upstairs facing towards the car park.
A few things to be aware of with this room:
- It is the only upstairs room facing the carpark with no balcony. Indeed, it's the only room on _either_ level facing the carpark with no outdoor area.
- As it is above the office, it is the room physically closest to Glebe Road, the main road Merewether Hotel is next to. The road is quiet overnight but picks up pretty early for commuters

My elderly father was put up here overnight before an operation due to the hospital beds being full. When he arrived he was informed the restaurant is closed on Tuesday nights and recommended to go across to the service station across the road or to walk 10 mins up the road to an Italian restaurant to get dinner when he could not walk more than a couple of minutes due to medical reasons. There is no staff at the motel overnight. Whilst there was tea, coffee, and sugar supplied, there was no milk supplied so he had to get some from the service station.

We have just got home from staying here while I had surgery. We couldn’t have asked for a more friendly service we received. Nothing we asked was a drama. With the hospital just minutes away it was ideal. They went out the way to make sure I had a ground floor room as I’m unable to walk. Thankyou so much. Would highly recommend you and would definitely return if needed.

Room was big, comfy bed, and everything needed was provided. They also delivered an inclusive brekkie of toast and cereal. Staff were super friendly and helpful with a late check in. When there were some people causing a rough and noisy night in another room, staff sorted it out instantly

Great value for money. Standard rooms include toast / cereal breakfast, it's not much but it's one less thing to worry about when away on business. The rooms are modern and comfortable. Even though thus Motel is on a main road it is very quiet and traffic noise does not travel into the rooms much at all. I have stayed here a few times and would be very happy to continuing coming here when I'm in town.
