Woodcut
WOODCUT uses a sawn cut extraction method when extracting the veneer from the logs, which does not degrade the quality of the veneer, as opposed to a sliced cut veneer. In a sliced cut veneer, the timber is softened by boiling it, and peeling the veneers off using a slicer. As a result, we would never use this method because you have degraded the quality of the veneer by exposing it to boiling water.

Slice cutting is a cost saving exercise as you are making the timber softer so you can peel it off. This method is satisfactory for joinery veneers, but not for flooring. All coatings by WOODCUT are designed to be cured by a UV light, which crystallises the oil or lacquer and forms extra protection on the boards.

The second I walked into the Richmond store, the sales reps were amazing. They listened to my vision of how I wanted the house to look, they understood my style, they grabbed samples to lay on the floor, (they even grabbed light and dark samples so I had a true idea of the colour of floor I wanted including variations) they put it against white paper to imagine it against the white walls. They even held the stock I wanted for 3 days without a deposit until I was able to obtain more accurate measurements. I cannot recommend Woodcut enough. They are so welcoming, they have such good knowledge and

We installed European Oak in April 2021. After a long search, we found Woodcut products appeared to be the best quality, the colour we chose (French Oak) was spot-on. We compared the ply substrate as well as the timber wear surface. A tip to consumers: It's a mammoth undertaking to rip up old flooring, level old concrete slab, lay flooring, only to skimp on quality. The Woodcut staff (Mia) were professional and easy to contact. Woodcut invited us to inspect samples from the specific pallets that arrived on-site since colours and textures vary with any natural product. No doubt it protects Woodcut

Zoran from Woodcut is a legend! Being fairly new to a renovation, Zoran was very responsive and kind enough to prompt me on all the details that I would not have thought of around new flooring. The floorboards themselves, going with an antique smoked & limed is such a unique look that suits me and the style of my apartment perfectly. The black knots through it give such character and I love it!

We love our new Woodcut floor.
Following the great advice at the Richmond showroom we chose Smoked Oak in engineered timber because we were replacing ugly old kitchen tiles and carpet in the dining room and stairs.
What a transformation!
The service from everyone at Woodcut, at the showroom to delivery and installation was friendly, professional, and so helpful.
We looked at other flooring companies, but found Woodcut really is a cut above.
Thanks to Danielle, Ulrica and of course Alex who did all the hard work, and was so careful with the installation.

As an interior designer myself I’m really particular about the quality of floorboards when sourcing flooring for any project. I chose Woodcut for the floorboards in my own home because of the vast range of timbers that they have and because of the thickness of their veneers. I also find the people at Woodcut excellent to deal with as well. Mary from the Melbourne showroom is both professional and super helpful and friendly, nothing is ever too much trouble. I highly recommend them!
