Our off-grid solar system installed by Jock Barton owner of Solar NRG Solutions in April 2019 has totally failed. We have been abandoned by this company and all requests for technical assistance leading up to this critical failure have been ignored. We have been forced to engage 3 CEC accredited companies to do a full audit on this install and it has been determined that it was not properly or safely installed. The inverter never worked to spec and was unservicable in Australia and our lithium ion batteries which were not installed in a rated safety cabinet nearly exploded (see attached image)

Jock and the team at NRG are friendly, efficient and it was obvious they are skilled at what they do. The NRG team have also been easy to deal with, ensuring all my questions were answered.

Our block is on a quiet road & it is just a short distance to the neighbours. When we decide to build we got a verbal quote of $30,000 to connect to the grid. So we allocated for that in our budget. We built the house as an electric house even with the meter board, But when we had finished and applied to connect What a shock. the investigation costed the power at 3 times what we allowed for. So we discussed going off grid with Jock and that’s what we did. We’re the winners and so appreciative of Jocks input. Our visitors don’t even realise we are not connected to the grid.

The contractors used were of a very low standard. My rooftop tank was unsecured and the plumbing was untidy with multiple holes drilled and tiles broken. They have since been back out and secured the tank properly. Make sure you check the install.
