Toshi San has been offering Japanese cuisine to the Southern Highlands for over 30 years. This experience and knowledge has resulted in a menu inspired by the rich tradition of Japanese gastronomy and the wealth of other cuisines, techniques and produce that Australia and the world have to offer. There is an ancient Japanese proverb, Kuru mono kaeru ga gotoshi.
This translates as 'Relax like at Home'. This belief is practiced from when we welcome our honoured guests at the door to when we farewell them at the end of the night. Traditionally the Japanese eat communally where different successive courses are shared and enjoyed by all at the table. This act of sharing is a celebration and an appreciation of the companionship of those with whom we dine.

Services
The "western style" dining area consists of tables and chairs as well as a sushi counter and is open for lunch and dinner. The 'Bento' box is a value for money set menu only available at lunchtime. Each bento box comes with rice and miso soup with weekly variations on the other items.
Customers can choose from beef, pork, chicken, or cooked fillet of Ocean Trout with a teriyaki sauce or a shoogayaki (sweet ginger sauce), the Ocean Trout can also be done with rock salt. There is also a sushi or sashimi bento box as well as a vegetarian. We can also prepare a gluten free or vegan bento box, just let our friendly staff know of any dietary requirements.

The "Japanese style" dining room is a room like no other in the highlands and is only open for dinner. In Japanese this style of seating is called "hori kotatsu" where diners sit on a raised polished floor on "zabuton" pillows with their legs in a recess or trench. There are also backrests available for added comfort.
We have a medium sized, simple wine list with a mix of local and international wines which complements our cuisine. We also have wine available by the glass, premium warm and cold sakes, original cocktails, soft drinks and imported Japanese beer. We also have Japanese single malt and blend whisky for customers to experience.
Each or both of our dining rooms can be booked for a private party, a wedding or function. We offer a tailored banquet menu to suit a budget as well as guests with particular dietary requirement such as gluten free or vegetarian. We can also organise birthday or special event cakes through our good friends at Gumnut Patisserie.

Taste aside.. food presentation and the customer service by the front desk officer on Saturday Eve with busy customer traffic was truly outstanding.. as I am new to Sushi cuisine she helped in matching my preference and her portfolio of products.
Don't know her name but if you read this comment do compliment her with your order..

I’ve been going to Toshi for over 25 years when they used to be in shoppers world. The food has never let me down. Amazing quality, flavour, and prices. Sushi is always fresh and perfectly made! Their Yakiniku is the best ever- so much flavour with tender juicy beef. All their menu items from teriyaki to appetizers are THE BEST ever!

Poor service, food is excellent though, but really not good service. Have ordered takeaway a few times and when I arrived they didn’t have one dish (didn’t bother calling), once they didn’t have what I ordered… then they offered another dish which I originally tried to order, but they said it was not offered for lunch (only dinner) and even forgot the whole order last time, so I won’t eat there. Even had to witness a staff member berating and abusing another staff member, so awkward and embarrassing.

A real great Japanese Restaurant in an unassuming Brampton strip mall.
Really fresh sushi and sashimi. Really nice portions at some fair prices. We really didn’t order from the menu, we just asked the chef to make whatever he wanted.
Next time we will go back and order from the menu.
It’s not fancy but rather homey. It would have been nice if there was a sushi bar but the open kitchen made up for it.
A great place for locals but it’s also worth the drive.
Enjoy

Service was very friendly. Food was tasty and very fresh. Only open Saturday 5-10pm we were there pretty much the whole time and they didn't rush is until it was time to close up. They have Japanese tv playing, quietly. Cute little decor accents, like lanterns and paper origami being used as part of their wall separators. Not a lot of parking in the plaza. Quite a few spot are short term 30 minutes limits. This shop has a la carte, Bento boxes, and meal specials. If you are looking for all you can eat, it is not here. Prices are fair for what you are buying. I would go back again.

Dinner box was very well balanced and tasty! Salmon sushi and rolls were fresh and teriyaki was seasoned and cooked perfectly! The best aspect of the restaurant was their service! Very knowledgeable staffs who have actual knowledge in Japanese cuisine! Overall I had a good time in this restaurant with my family.
