Finding Beautiful is a project that has arisen from my own experiences as a woman in the modern western world and from observing the experiences of other women. I find it frustrating that we continue to be judged by others and ourselves based on our appearance first and foremost and not on our accomplishments or contribution to society.
Do you see yourself as beautiful? Do you feel beautiful inside and out? It's such a wonderful feeling to be able to truly accept yourself as the beautiful woman you are. It's amazing how life changes when you stop admonishing yourself for being less than someone else's idea of perfect. It took me 50 years to get to that place and I really don't want anyone else to waste so much time.
These days there are great blessings for women in Western society, as we have access to incredible opportunities and choice. The flip side of this is that many of us are trying to be all things - mother, carer, professional woman, partner, lover, household project manager, family activities coordinator (to name but a few), while ensuring everyone else is happy and sorted.
Counselling is an excellent self care tool that can provide assistance not only in times of great distress or turmoil, but whenever you might need support to process your experiences, reflect, and gain a new perspective. Sometimes it's enough to have an objective person listen to what's going on for you, help you make sense of your situation, and clarify issues.
