Dr Bleakley lived and attended school on the Gold Coast. Joe graduated as a Dentist (BDSc) from the University of Queensland and worked in general dental practice for ten years, both in Australia and overseas. Joe successfully completed his Masters degree in Orthodontics (MDSc) at the University of Sydney and also completed examinations to become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS).
Orthodontics is a specialist field of dentistry that is focused on diagnosing, preventing and treating patients with irregular teeth alignment and jaw function. Ortho, simply means, "to straighten or correct". An orthodontist is recognised as an expert in orthodontic treatment and has the knowledge and clinical skills to provide the highest quality of orthodontic treatment.
Our practice offers an obligation free complimentary initial consultation to all new patients who have not undergone previous orthodontic treatment. At this appointment, one of our experienced Orthodontists will assess your teeth and jaws using the x-rays we requested you get a few days before along with doing a thorough Orthodontic examination of your teeth.
It's the question everyone asks, how much will orthodontic treatment cost? To make sure we are providing you with the best possible options when it comes to your smile we will always have an initial consult with you first. These are complimentary consults providing you have not had orthodontic treatment before.
During your next visit, the "banding appointment", your braces will be placed on your teeth. At Gold Coast Orthodontists we use a special technique called "indirect bonding". The moulds taken at your previous appointment are used to create templates of your teeth. This template is used to place the brackets in the exact position on your teeth without you having to keep your mouth open for a long period of time.

Great Service, friendly and professional staff and flexible appointment schedules. Dr Jo and his team explained everything clearly and answered the myriad of crazy questions i had in a way i could easily understand. Their facilities at all three practices were beautifully clean and well set out with a kids play area. I would recommend GCSmiles to anyone. I'm nearly 50 and have had crooked teeth my whole life. I'm no longer shy about smiling!!
