Services
The principal focus of FCMA is support for its members and advocacy for the profession of Chinese medicine. To that end, it provides regular seminars in both the clinical and professional aspects of Chinese medicine, and has aligned its policies with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 (the National Law) and with the registration standards and guidelines of the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA).
All FCMA members, from all state and territory branches, must meet strict accreditation criteria in order to be a member, are bound by the FCMA Constitution and Code of Conduct and, if found in breach, are subject to formal disciplinary procedures that FCMA has in place. In addition, there are formal requirements for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), Senior First Aid, and Professional Indemnity Insurance cover.
All Chinese medicine practitioners registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) in any of the three divisions of Chinese medicine registration are eligible for membership, provided they meet all requirements of the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA). These include the divisions of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and Chinese herbal dispensing.
FCMA supports English proficiency whilst also providing translations for its members in order to ensure important issues are well-understood. FCMA encourages any member with language difficulties to improve English proficiency in order to expand their clinical practice and also to keep abreast with AHPRA and CMBA updates.
The Victorian gold rush of the 1850s saw a wave of Chinese migrants come to our shores, some of whom were practitioners of Chinese medicine, and by the 1900s, Chinese herbalists appeared in the Melbourne CBD as well as the goldfield townships of Bendigo and Ballarat. Acupuncturists at that time were fewer in number owing, perhaps, to a preference to ingest herbal substances, which was not so alien to the Western population.

Dr. Lin speaks English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Vietnamese so no any communication issues based on my previous experience.
The prices of herbs are reasonable. Patient education is provided regarding Chinese herbs.
Not bulk billing but could claim back the bill if having private insurance.
Busy so booking an appointment prior going is suggested.
