Services
Hi, my name is Adam Cecil and I am the General Manager of beautiful Merewether Golf Club in Newcastle NSW. I invite you to join me for 10 holes of golf at 12:45pm on the first Thursday of every month. Although I am a registered Golf Pro, I can still hit my fair share of bad shots and need just as much practice as everyone else.
Established in 1933, Merewether Golf Course is located in the heart of Newcastle and is favourite of many golfers across the region. Merewether Golf Course is set among eucalyptus tree-lined tight fairways with strategic bunkers and formidable water hazards. This challenging 18-hole layout has a wonderful variety of golf holes with excellent year-round conditioning.
The opening drive of your round requires an accurate tee shot as the fairway is guarded on both sides by large trees. The longer hitter may even be better hitting a 3 wood or hybrid iron from the the tee. From the corner of the dogleg it is about 120m to the green, which sits above you and well guarded by bunkers.
Merewether Golf Club welcomes visitors and looks forward to seeing you on the course. If you are wanting to book in a round please phone the Pro-Shop on 4963 1869 before you leave home to make sure you can get a game. The table below is a general guide and is subject to change due to course bookings.
Here at Merewether we have a combination of the traditional 6 and 7 day memberships along with alternative membership types that are designed for time-poor golfers as well as social golfers not interested in competitions or an official handicap. The 7 Day Membership is the premier option, it allows for unlimited access to the course and competitions 7 days a week (except for dedicated comps or corporate events).

Interesting meal @ this venue
Very limited menu but what was ordered by our group was most enjoyable. #For something completely different in a dining experience try Merewether Golf Club's Bistro.

The pro's can smash those drivers! Dodt drove to the mound 30m from 1st off the back tees! And the pro from Ryde Parramatta bounced on the cart path past the mound on the 1st and ended up 20m past the 1st green on the 2nd fairway!👍⛳😀

Went to the golf club for dinner and it was so delicious. It was excellent. I had the carbonara and my friend had the roasted vegetable salad which looked amazing and she said it was the best she's ever had. Our friend has chicken schnitzel and salad, chips and he said the chips were the best he's ever had well cooked golden brown and crunchy. The schnitzel was golden brown and very moist and render.
The portion size was very generous and we left very full
Top marks to the chef and all the staff very friendly

The course here is very well looked after, moderately difficult and has a perfectly placed 19th hole in the middle, you are able to pass this easily.
The club house is quite old.
Carts are good quality.

Went to Merewether Golf Club for my bucks weekend.
IT had rained all morning but the course was still in great nick. Dried off enough to let us play in the arvo. As it was quiet they allowed us to play in a group of 8 as long as we let following groups through.
They provided beer coolers for our 6 packs (which were a little expensive but understandable as they would not have been ordered in large numbers like somewhere like Dan Murphys).
The $9 lunch meal was awesome! Chicken schnitzel, chips, salad and gravy for $9! And was a great portion size too. The kitchen actually stay open until 3pm
