The history of town is everywhere, an authentic fishing village where houses and farms have remained in the same families for generations, is justifiably proud of its long rural and fishing heritage. Stanley was settled in 1830. Its' location in Circular Head was chosen as the headquarters of the Van Dieman's Land (VDL) Company and their vast farming operations (250,000 acres) on Royal Charter from King George 1V.

Caravanners stopped in for a meal, you had to book as very popular and full of locals in the bistro if that tells you anything?
I love my sf chowder so gave it a try with some beut crusty loaf
I had some at 2 very well known restaurants in Hobart which were quite ok but Stanley pubs version knocked em out of the park prices were normal young staff were great I’d go back to Tassie just for that .
