Black Nugget Hotel-Motel Moranbah, QLD

The Black Nugget has been Moranbah's local pub since it opened its doors in 1971 and it holds a special place in the hearts of the Moranbah community - a community consisting mostly of long time locals and transient coal mine workers. It's where the locals and visitors meet - for a knock off drink, to catch up with mates, to enjoy a good meal, celebrate a milestone, hold an informal business meeting, or just kick back and relax.

It's pretty safe to say, if you've been to Moranbah - you've been to the Black Nugget Hotel. The complex is located centrally in Moranbah and is a short stroll to all amenities including the CBD, hospital, corporate offices and sporting facilities, and just a 5 minute drive from the Moranbah Airport.

Rooms are average and everything smells like an ashtray. No smoking in the rooms but other people sit outside your room so thick waves of smoke waft through the room.

Had an awesome 400gram steak last night ! Cooked perfectly and the chef special 10 wings for $10 was unreal. Couldn’t fault the garlic sauce. The meal was far superior and highly recommended over their only competition in town!

What happened did the chef quit? Poorly presented food, took twice as long to arrive and the order was incorrect. I did notice that they didn't get the price wrong.

Had a great night out here, staff were friendly, constantly cleaning and wiping down which was good to see, drinks prices were ok, friend had a pre mix that was a bit up there but other than that good, food was great, all were happy with there meals. Will go again.

Great place to stay and the Breakfast in the dining room is spot on! Meals and drinks at the Pub are well priced and value for money...taste good too!

Food was great ... ordered fiery chicken and the meal was large enough for two people.
Drinks service was prompt...
Gr8 place for quiet drinks pokies and kids play area.

Do not go there the Staff are real angry and don't like to see you have fun ..Because their lives are so boring they walk around angry and they cut you off when you are beginning to have fun.The rooms stink the fridges dont work ..And just bad bad management there is not much of a croud that goes there because the locals like me are sick of those barstaff that make you sick they are all depressed and bored and hate to serve you drinks ...That is definitely not the way hospitality is meant to be ...I will never set foot in there again..

Had dinner at the Black Nugget and it was good. Staff was very helpful and the food was great and affordable. The area was clean and spacious.
Afterwards we went to the bar area and that was unfortunately a different story and I can't see how these two areas are related to each other. It was groggy, smelly and a sports bar kind of atmosphere.
