In 1997 Thornlie Towing and Recovery Services and TWH Towing recognized the need for a truly professional towing service that was not controlled by insurance companies, panel beaters or automotive bodies. Thornlie Towing although having been established many years before this began offering what our customers wanted, a towing service controlled solely by you, our customers.

Over the years insurance companies and automotive bodies have come to recognize our focus on you, our customer, is also what they wish for their customers and we welcome the opportunity to assist the customers of these forward thinking companies. Some of our customers include (or have included) : Rally Australia; Targa West; Law enforcement bodies and Car club events, races and rallies, just to name a few.
Services
We only operate fully insured and correctly registered tow trucks that also fully comply with the tow truck regulations. If the unfortunate happens and you are involved in an accident we ask that you first ensure the safety and well being of all others involved. Should another towing service attend you are NOT required to use their service or sign anything.
Using only properly rated and maintained equipment designed for 4WD recovery we are able to reduce the time required and in doing so the cost of having your 4WD recovered from sand, mud, creeks, anywhere. Even if you are not certain where you are we can often assist by explaining how to find your GPS co-ordinates from your dedicated GPS unit or smartphone.
Never use drugs and drive, including prescription medication that affects driving abilities. The legal limit for drink driving is 0.05, you must be under this limit at all times whilst driving. When approaching a tow truck or other vehicle that is displaying flashing lights SLOW DOWN and follow any reasonable directions.
As a rough guide a Falcon or Commodore weighs about 1600 to 1800 kg, a 4x4 such as a Pajero or Landcruiser weighs about 2100 kg to 2500 kg without any extra equipment such as roo bars, tow bars, etc. While many operators of Class 1 Tow Trucks will offer to transport 4x4's they do so in breach of the Tow Truck Regulations and will not be insured should your vehicle be damaged.
