The Right Gear Driving School teaches learner drivers to be confident and safe. We deliver lessons tailored to each individual with a strong attention to detail and correct driving techniques. Our priority is to help our clients develop the appropriate hazard awareness techniques and become confident in their decision-making whilst driving to ensure their own safety and that of other drivers.

What we offer is far more than just teaching a learner driver correct driving techniques. We want them to have a comprehensive understanding of the safest and most efficient way to drive a car. We want them to learn the correct way of negotiating road and traffic hazards and develop a greater awareness of potentially dangerous situations and how to avoid them.
We teach them how to forward plan and start how to assess each situation on approach and ensure they optimize their own safety and anticipate potential hazards and possible mistakes from other drivers. It's about helping them develop a greater awareness of the constantly changing traffic conditions around them.
Requires 100% Road Law compliance and 90% System of Car Control to pass. Three working days notice is required to book a test. Learners must wait two weeks before reattempting a VORT test. Price includes Government fees and charges, and the booking fee is to be paid in advance (non-refundable). Price includes one hour warm up lesson, car hire for the VORT test & Examiner and government fees.
At The Right Gear we appreciate that every client is unique. We adapt our teaching techniques to ensure everyone progresses as fast as possible and finds the experience of learning to drive both positive and enjoyable. Everything we teach is to the exact government standard so when our learners are assessed by an examiner, everything is performed correctly.
The VORT test (Vehicle On Road Test) comprises of two main parts. Part one consists of five basic manoeuvres and part two is an assessment of their overall on road driving ability. However 100% road rule compliance is required and any breach of the law is an automatic fail. The most common breaches are speeding in a school or roadwork zones and failing to completely stop at a stop sign.

After trying to get my license for 2 years and various instructors, Chris is the friendliest and most professional teacher I've had. He taught me how to pass my VORT test by practicing safe manoeuvers and communicated instructions clearly. His lessons are a great value for money and I walk away knowing I can drive confidently and safely with the skills he has taught me.

Chris was the absolute best! I was in a position where I had been driving for a lot of years but due to living overseas for quite a while I had to go through certain steps to retrieve my Aussie licence. He made me feel so comfortable about the process and laugh… did we laugh!! I recommend Chris to everyone, whatever level you are!! Thank you Chris you’re a rock star!

I had been through multiple driving instructors prior to going through Chris. I would highly recommend going through The Right Gear Driving School. Chris was really good with providing lessons for all types of learners, for example providing documents with the steps required to complete the manoeuvres or demonstrating the manoeuvres himself. He was very accommodating and provided very professional and structured lessons. Chris provided additional time for things that I didn't feel confident in to help build my confidence. This is incredibly useful for people that suffer with anxiety or struggle

This program really helped me improve my driving and ability to perform essential maneuvers and Chris was a great instructor, always ensuring I was 100% confident with my skills being tested. The quick turnaround from booking the lessons to passing the VORT test was also excellent, as the ability to get my P’s so quickly has been invaluable. Would easily recommend.
