The Children's Services Act 1996 requires the location of childcare premises to be satisfactory for the operation of a children's service. In particular, the soil which children have access to at childcare centres must not contain substances at levels that are harmful to human health.
Investigation is also required for premises where soil-disturbing activities are being planned (such as extension, alteration, or deep excavations), or where works will take place in areas that are, or will be, used for children's outdoor play.Landserv helps the Department of Education, Councils and private organisations to prepare sites for the development of new schools and childcare centres, both inner-urban and in new "greenfield" suburbs.

Hydrogeological Assessments are the systematic study of geology, hyrdogeology, geochemistry and contamination at a site. These assessments are critical in assessing the risk posed to the environment by existing or proposed waste disposal, storage facilities and landfill sites, as well as chemical and petroleum storage handling.
