Services
Chris has worked in the field of manual therapy for more than a decade. After completing five years of university education to become a registered osteopath he has undertaken further postgraduate training in a Dynamic Postural Model (DPM) that stems from the work of a Japanese medical doctor. Chris believes osteopathy provides a way forward for patients with complex and long standing issues of pain.
We treat women throughout their pregnancies to assist with the symptoms caused by changes in posture and weight bearing. The techniques employed are modified according to the trimester. Preparatory osteopathic treatment can enable your labour proceed as smoothly as possible. You can have an assessment to make sure everything, especially your pelvic alignment and function, is optimal for the birth.
Our osteopathic treatment style is modified according child's age and is generally gentle as children are quite responsive to treatment and often only require 2-3 treatments. In circumstances of trauma it maybe beneficial to have your child examined after incidents such as; motor vehicle accidents, fractures and significant falls that do not resolve quickly.
Osteopathy is a form of manual medicine that focuses on total body health by treating muscles/tendons, joints/ligaments and nerves etc. The osteopathic philosophy is to treat you as a whole, not just treat your specific symptoms. Osteopaths believe that in order for the body to heal it must have a good blood and nerve supply; subsequently our treatment goal is directed at improving the structure and function of your whole body.
It's advisable to arrive a 5-10 minutes early for your first appointment, as you will need to fill out initial paperwork. Your initial consultation may last up to one hour. This will enable your osteopath to take a thorough case history, examine and diagnose your problem, and provide you with a full treatment.
