Short Engineering
Established as S. J. Short and Co. in 1948, Short Engineering Pty Ltd has continued to grow and develop our services to meet the needs of our many and varied clients in the industries we serve. Moving from a small workshop with a few capstan lathes to the latest CNC controlled machines in a large workshop with an 800 square meter yard we are able to cater for bigger jobs and materials handling.

Long-time customers, some for more than 35 years, can be attributed to our dynamic customer focused team. Located bordering the Edwardstown industrial hub in Adelaide, South Australia allows us to quickly and easily access complimentary businesses in our area. We are meeting environmental responsibility with green energy electricity, waste recycling and Environmental Protection Authority pollution prevention.
Services
Our team is skilled and happy to communicate with you in order to obtain the results you need. We are able to machine an individual item or completely manufacture a quantity of parts that assemble together. From design advice to prototype through to production we are here for you. We can quote, order material, cut material, machine, weld, coat, finish off, assemble, package, freight and provide certification certificates.
The foundation of our business and ongoing growth area is that of our CNC Lathes which cater for our customer's requirements. From a small firing pin for a cannon to large compressor cylinder linings or left handed trapezoidal threads two meters long to profile turning or straight, taper, knurling, facing and grooving - we have the expertise you require.
Our fabrication and assembly sections have seen a wide selection of products over the years for some well known customers. We have welded the Jarrett crane and winch products after having machined the components in our machine shop. We have machined, fabricated and assembled products for the mining industry.
Over the years Short Engineering has been involved with many development projects beginning with first off samples, following through with 'in progress' modifications then leading to a finished saleable product. Pattern making, Casting, Core making and Vacuum molding combined with our core Fitting, Turning and Tooling.
