AUSTRALIAN COMPOSITE TECHNOLOGY
In 2004, Australian Composite Technology (ACT) established its first production facility in a 5,500 square metre single span factory located at Somerton VIC and has recently set up a new facility in Minto NSW. The commissioning of this manufacturing line represented a world first solution for the reprocessing of co-mingled industrial waste plastics.

One of the key ACT objectives has been to elevate industrial plastic waste recycling into a highly presentable, mainstream business activity. Based on 18 years of research, including prototyping of various products, the ACT process is unique in its ability to accommodate volumes of co-mingled polymer waste.

Schools, large and small businesses, journalists, local councils and community groups were among the finalists in this year's United Nations Association of Australia World Environment Day Awards. This year the Awards celebrated the International Year for Sustainable Energy for all and the United Nations World Environment Day theme, "Green Economy: Does it include you?"
Kinder & Co, one of Australia's leading suppliers to the mining and manufacturing industry, has again broken new ground in recycling - this time with the conversion of their customer's used polymer conveyor rollers into shipping pallets.

This cradle-to-cradle initiative means that after years of hauling bulk materials to reach the end of their useful life, Kinder's K-Polymer Rollers are 're-born' once they are returned to the company's headquarters in the Melbourne suburb of Braeside. The rollers are shredded, granulated and mixed with a special formula before being extruded into recycled lengths, which are then cut to size and assembled to become composite pallets.
