Sharon and Jeff welcome you to Gee-Dee's Family Cabins at Karumba Point, affordable family-style, couples or fisherperson accommodation on the Gulf of Carpentaria at the mouth of the Norman River. The whole mood is relaxed as travellers, fishermen, birdwatchers and locals gather in the late afternoon to enjoy the "million dollar sunset" across the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Your stay will be in a family owned and operated, motel like, cabins that offer you the latest in modern, clean, air conditioned rooms. Your hosts Sharon and Jeff are able to offer local advice and assistance to make your stay at Karumba an enjoyable one. The cabin accommodation is conveniently located opposite a park leading to the beach, 150 metres to the boat ramp and opposite the tavern, famous for its sunsets.

Fishing Report

Karumba is one of the most bountiful fishing spots Australian and overseas anglers like to visit. Visitors to this region frequently catch barramundi, jewfish and king salmon in the warmer months. Blue salmon, grunter, mud-crabs and bream are caught most of the year. In the winter months Spanish mackerel and queen fish are often caught.

First time to Karumba, nice quiet place and great fresh seafood. Sounds odd but everyone recommend Ash's for the seafood, they weren't wrong!! The staff are very helpful and happy to point you in the right direction.

We stopped two night's at Ashs this week and loved it! Was very clean units smelt really nice. Beds were comfy and staff were lovely! Would definitely stay again.

Absolutely sensational! We just had a big meal there including almost every seafood they offer. Everything tastes brilliant and the squid rings were without any doubt the best I ever had in my life. The texture was just perfect and the taste... I never had something that good before. Only downside: from today on I will not be able to enjoy squid rings any more - unless I return to this place (which will probably happen tomorrow morning before we leave Karumba). Oh and btw prices are totally fair too!
