Our artisan hand-crafted sourdough bakery and soulful cafe bakes a variety of award-winning breads and serves real, homemade organic foods with no preservatives or additives. The original Good Loaf Sourdough Bakery and Cafe is housed within the uniquely transformed and heritage-listed former Beaurepaires building in the centre of the Bendigo CBD.

In addition to providing a welcoming and inclusive place for people of all backgrounds, we are dedicated to contributing to our local community. We value people, relationships and the environment and live by these values to provide a wholesome product that is created within a sustainable manner, we can be proud of.
Services
There is indeed a lot that's 'good' about the way we do business. Beyond the wonderful sourdough bread that's baked fresh daily, we believe in our 'Good Loaf, Good Life' philosophy and our obligation to care for the world and the community around us. We endeavour to be eco-friendly and community-focused in every facet of the business, particularly when it comes to recycling and reusing.
Naturally leavened (risen) bread made without added baker's yeast, made by hand in the old fashioned way with 100% natural ingredients. A style of sourdough which uses long ferment natural leaven combined with a small percentage of compressed baker's yeast, to give different flavoured and textured bread.
The Good Loaf Sourdough Bakery & Cafe located in Hargreaves Street Bendigo is open 6 days a week for breakfast, lunch and snacks. We are open at 7:00am from Monday to Friday and close at at 4:30pm (Thursdays close at 5:30pm due to the Farmer's Market). We are open every Saturday from 7:00am to 3:00pm.
Our authentic, traditional and award-winning sourdough loaves are handcrafted daily at our Bendigo bakery, The Good Loaf. As a living product, the natural yeast starter can be an unpredictable beast, requiring skilled artisan bakers to produce the final work of art. Our goal is to craft our hand-made, delicious sourdough for you and your family to enjoy.
Our main sourdough breads have no added preservatives, artificial flavourings, improvers, added fat or sugars! In addition, the very nature of sourdough bread enhances nutrition. The glycaemic index (GI) of sourdough bread is around 50 compared to 71 for non-sourdough white bread, making sourdough bread a low GI food.

Great core staff that can make a good coffee. Depending on who brews your coffee can change how bitter or smooth it is. Food is great with a bit of something for everyone.

Hi Cheryl you should try the food at the Goodloaf as you won't be disappointed and sourdough bread is fermented bread which is good for your gut as it isn't full of yeast like other breads which makes you bloated and isn't good for your gut! Sourdough isn't heavy on your stomach and because it isn't full of yeast and other preservatives and also has live cultures like taking inner health and puts good cultures into your gut like saurakreat, kambucha, yogurt and keifer and fermented foods! There's so much crap in the food you buy from the supermarket that's why people are getting sick!
