Hired these guys to do a survey on Whitley 2380 I was looking to purchase to make sure it stacked up and I wasn't buying someone else's issues. Survey report came back fine so I went ahead and purchased. Since then I have a number of issues that should have been picked up by any quality surveyor including but not limited to significant gelcoat cracking under the boat which I sent them an email asking about to which they never responded, engine issues including a belt disintegrating while out on a trip which appears to have now created further and costly engine issues. Great to deal with and was very professional, but I had asked to make sure the trim gauge was working, and I was informed it was, but upon receiving my boat and then trying the trim gauge, he did not work..... Took the boat in to my mechanic and it turns out apart of the trim gauge is broken, so I am not sure if the inspector knows his way around a motor fully

Leighton is a champ that really helped me select the correct boat and understand all the issues, I brought a 25foot 16year old bow rider so there were big risks if things weren’t right... which they mainly were but Leighton pointed out several items that I would have otherwise missed, buying from a dealer this meant the items were fixed before sale (the dealers were really good blokes as well) .
What impressed me the most was that even before I had agreed to engage QBI Leighton gave me some excellent advice about what to look out for which saved me a lot of time, would definitely use again and

Absolutely outstanding service. From the start Leighton was all over it and very knowledgeable on the type and make of boat i had paid a deposit on. Long story short, Leighton found a few problems with my boat. He let me know asap and i renegotiated on price. Saved me $7k of the purchase price. I was very keen on a boat for which I made an offer and withdrew the money to buy. A relative suggested I get an inspection done first before rushing into clinching a deal. Thus I called Leighton at Queensland Boat Inspections and saved myself becoming a victim of the age old adage of BOAT (Bring On Another Thousand). Friendly Leighton arrived on time, was diligent and meticulous in his checks and was happy to get down and dirty to ensure everything that needed to be inspected was inspected. Leighton looked over a boat for me that the dealer guaranteed was A1.
He picked up many small non structural issues as well as a few mechanical problems that would have led to trouble down the track.
I used his detailed report and photos to send to the dealer who come to the party and agreed to fix all the issues for me within the original purchase price.
QBI and Leightons expertise in this case was well worth his rate as I was buying a boat in Queensland when I live in NSW and I would have been very disappointed if I had driven 10 hours to find all these issues myself.
