Our team wants you to have a great orthodontic experience, and we know that is more than good treatment alone. Our team is selected because they are nice people with warm and friendly natures. Bringing together a multitude of skills and years of experience as a team, we will ensure you are looked after all the way to a beautiful smile.

Our team is trained comprehensively in sterilisation, orthodontic and dental nursing. Some of our nurses have specialist training in implantology, periodontics, and oral surgery both in the chair and in the theatre. Our nurses undergo continual training and certification through courses and lectures.
Services
Mark is the only resident orthodontist in the Central West. Residing in Bathurst, he provides the service that only a full time practice can. Mark has been established in Bathurst for 25+ years. He opened his Lithgow practice in 2015, to better accommodate our Lithgow & Blue Mountains patients.

Mark being a university professor, senior lecturer, and member of many orthodontic and dental organisations requires him to be up to date and well informed about all aspects of orthodontics and dentistry.Mark lectures at universities and major conferences nationally and internationally, and has been Head of teaching Orthodontics for undergraduate students at Charles Sturt University's Faculty of Dentistry for 6+ years.
I recently visited Mark (6 yrs after braces) with a little adjustment in my retainer from a seed; he and his staff were so lovely and happy to work with me to fit around my roster. Thank you for your time Team, you made the trip from Sydney more enjoyable! I highly recommend Mark and his team, so friendly and happy to help!
Magnification Loupes (special glasses) allow for finer attention to detail. Most dentists use between 2.5 & 6.0 times magnification, Mark uses 6.0 times magnification. We use the smallest brackets comercially available in Australia, these are far less obvious than regular brackets. Magnification helps when placing these brackets.
When space is made, we can often fit crooked teeth in easier, sometimes eliminating the need for the removal of teeth. We aim to avoid requesting the extraction of permanent teeth as much as possible, and an expansion approach often allows us to accommodate all the teeth. For children - a gentle, passive or removable appliance is usually more comfortable and well accepted.
Progress re-diagnosis (repositioning appointment), uses progress X-rays to check the angles of the roots of teeth. We then remove and rebond the brackets in more favourable positions for uprighting roots. Healthy bone is important, bone supports the teeth. Loss of bone is the major cause for loss of teeth from middle age onwards, and tipped teeth angles are thought of as a risk to a tooth's vital bone support.
