Services
Your first visit to iKids is to allow us to meet you and your child and to examine your child carefully. Additional examination techniques including radiographs, laser fluorescence and microscopy may be used. The gathered information is discussed with you and we prepare a plan to address your child's dental needs and importantly to address your concerns.
We encourage Parents to remain in the room with their children during the course of treatment but ask you to allow the professional team to carry out the treatment quietly. We do recognise this can be uncomfortable for some Parents and for many others, they are confident to allow their children to proceed on their own.
At iKids we understand that taking your child with autism to the dentist can pose many challenges. Our experienced team will endeavour to make the experience as stress free as possible. There are many potential sensory challenges at the dentist. Sounds, lights, tastes, smells and textures. Sharing your child's sensitivities and coping strategies with staff will allow us to adapt to their preferences as much as possible.
Here at iKids Paediatric Dental Care, we are especially aware of the problems associated with chalky teeth and stop at nothing to ensure best levels of care. We respect that special considerations need to be made not just for the dental treatments we apply, but also for the way we interact with our affected people and their families.
A frenectomy (or frenotomy) is the surgical release of a tongue-tie or lip tie. A frenectomy is a simple procedure done in our rooms to help mothers and their babies to feed better. Dr Johnston uses a laser to perform the frenectomy. The procedure takes approximately 5 minutes and the baby is able to feed immediately after.

My daughter had waterlase to her tongue tie with ikids. She went from being almost completely bottle fed to 100% breast fed. We were very happy with the Eve, the lactation consultant and the procedure itself. They were very quick to get back to us out of working hours when we had a query after the procedure.

It was stressful and negative experience for us.
It started off we were running late, we called to inform we will be there 15 mins pass our appointment. The moment we walked in, the receptionist told us 'oh it's been 20 mins late, I have to see if they can still see you'. Coming from retail background, this customer service standard to me, I feel is not very positive. My husband n I already said..it's ok..just fix these teeth and we won't come back anymore.
I checked my phone, we were on the dot 15 mins. We understand this as they have their schedule to keep up.

Can't thank Dr Tim and his team (especially IBCLC, Jacqui) enough! My daughter and I had struggled through breastfeeding and a posterior tongue tie for 3 months. Jacqui performed a thorough oral assessment, listened to our concerns and recommended laser. Dr Tim explained every part of the procedure and answered all our questions. Following the laser (total of about 5 minutes) my daughter was able to breastfeed amazingly! No more pain or injury to me! Yippee!! Great follow up care and service. Recommend to anyone struggling through breastfeeding and tongue tie issues!

Tim is a great dentist and he treated my son very well but his staff or the receptionist is not professional! Very rude and arrogant! They cancelled us 1 hour before our appointment. We are on our way to the clinic. We took a day off from our work and cancelled work appointments. The reason for the cancellation, they haven't seen my son for a year and other bs reasons just to bumped us to a later appointment.
My son is in pain and needs to be seen as soon as it is possible. 🤕

Can not recommend enough. Our son had his frenectomy at 3 weeks old and the change in his feeding is unbelievable. Tim and his team made us feel so comfortable and treated Fergus with so much respect and care. Eve is incredible as well, offering another facet of care for new mums. Thank you so much. Without private cover, iKids is worth every cent!

I decided to try ikids Dental as it is closer to my home than Cherrygum Dental. While I can't comment on the dental treatment, our time was waisted by the 'difficult' receptionist. When booking an appointment for my preschool children, I was told we could not come after 3pm as this slot was reserved for adolescents, this is not an issue at Cherrygum. She then told me that during the school holidays would be alright so I booked an appointment for 4pm then. After waiting a month to see the dentist, a day before the appointment, the receptionist rang to ask if we could now come at 10am, as it was

This is the best dental care my son has ever received! Dr Tim Johnston is the 7th/8th dentist I have consulted so far and he is the best. My search for a good dentist has finally ended :).
As promised by Dr Johnston, my son is a happier child now with a better apetite. Enough reasons for a mum to be happy :).
