Marble, limestone and travertine all consist of calcium carbonate in one of its many forms. These stones are made from the composition of many layers of fossilized shells, bones, coral and whatever else mother nature put in there. They vary in density, porosity, and colour. Marble, limestone and travertine have a hardness similar to our teeth and bones and registers 3-4 on the Mohs scale of natural hardness.
Slate and Sandstone are fine grained metamorphic rocks composed mainly of clay, sand and silt. At Best Marble & Tile Care, we specialize in cleaning, stripping, re-sealing and restoration of slate and sandstone floor tiles. Firstly we do a quick test on the sealer/coating on the slate/sandstone floor to determine which sealer has been applied previously, to ensure the new sealer is compatible.
Terrazzo is a flooring material consisting of chips of marble or granite set in concrete and polished to give a smooth and shiny surface. I'm a professional kitchen designer and have been working with Russo Tile and Marble for the past 15 years. Both brothers, Rick and Gino are a pleasure to work with. I have found their craftsmanship to be excellent and they are happy to do a level of detail that others shy away from. They meet their deadlines and are always willing to work with me if we have an interesting field condition etc. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone in need of quality stone fabrication.
