The Surry Hills childcare Early Learning Centre is a childcare centre with a strong vision and desire to become a leader of child care services in the Child care Sydney CBD and Surry Hills area. Proactive methods attracting passionate educators. We will be providing unsurpassed education to children, with the aim of becoming an important asset to our community.
Our way. the 'Mariposa Way'. It's more than a philosophy, it's an approach that draws upon modern research but follows age old values. We value children growing up with the understandings, skills and dispositions to be caring people and effective learners, able to contribute to their world and to enjoy rich and successful relationships with others.
Our Surry Hills Day Care Centre childcare service is dedicated to three amazing women who dedicated their time and energy to caring and educating others. All three had at various times experienced the under-resourced public education and hospital systems, with the lack of time allowed for the quality care and education of individuals.
A major inspiration behind the Surry Hills Early Learning centre is the people and educators we will have working with us. Experienced and committed educators with a passion for the caring, educating and development of children. Our Day Care in Surry Hills is committed to attracting and retaining high quality educators, as a key part of our offering to families.

From the minute they opened their doors, SHELC has made my family feel part of their own little family. All the teachers are exceptionally attentive and caring. They go above and beyond to accommodate us, in particular various instances where I have needed additional causal days. They send updates and photos throughout the day to keep us in the loop with all of the exciting activities. Also, their food plans are multicultural and my son loves the food! Highly recommend this centre :)

Surry Hills Early Learning Centre is a unique and very special family run daycare centre. We were lucky enough to have our son Jack attend the centre for two and a half years since he was 11 months of age. We will be forever thankful for the support SHELC provided to our family and the loving care they provided to Jack. Eden started SHELC aged 2. Within a few seconds of entering the centre she independently joined an educator and a group of toddlers for an activity and hasn’t looked back since. It truly is a family run centre, the owners, directors and every member of staff know every child and their personalities. The thing that stands out for me at SHELC is that they only employ educators that truly love their job. It’s a very happy place.

I could not recommend this Early Childcare centre enough. My son attended 4 days a week from 6th months to 3.5years of age - It become like his 2nd home & family. The care and love he received was more than we could have ever wished for him & knowing he was spending his days in such care kept my mother's heart at peace. I could not recommend this place highly enough - Forever grateful our paths cross this beautiful centre.

SHELC is an incredible centre. The professionalism, warmth and attention the carers give to every child is like no other centre I have experienced. Eddie adored his time there, and I always had complete confidence in the quality of care and that Eddie’s happiness and development were always attended to. I couldn’t speak more highly, we will miss everyone very much.

As a first time mum i felt very anxious leaving my daughter in someone else's care. The educators are amazing here. I felt very comfortable leaving Charli here and it honestly felt as though we were leaving her with family. She always had so much fun and it was amazing to see her develop and grow from all the different activities she did. Highly recommend this centre.

Our Harriet started at SHELC one year ago at age 1. As parents and educators ourselves we have been so impressed with the individualised care, innovative learning programs and creative resources at the centre. The staff genuinely love their jobs and love the children which is so important. The philosophy of the centre is transparent in its day to… day running, and they welcome feedback to continually improve.
