Beginning in 1954 as VACU-LUG Australia and trading as Relug & Tread from 1987 to 1992, Big Tyre has built a reputation for supplying reliable, high quality products and down to earth solutions.

Services
Significant savings are available by relugging radial tractor & forestry logger tyres. Cracks in sidewalls can be repaired and a fender can be added to extend the life of the tyre. Foam filled tyres can be retreaded and repaired numerous times provided the tyre casing is in sufficiently good condition, substantially increasing the return on investment.
Being able to retread foam filled tyres substantially increases the return on investment in both the tyre and the foam filling. Foam filled tyres may be retreaded numerous times without damaging the foam providing the tyre casing is in reasonably good condition. Big Tyre can also refurbish the rim as part of the retreading process, if necessary.
Big Tyre offers a range of compounds so that retreaded tyres can be tailored to any particular mining site. By altering various properties of the tyre Big Tyre can retread tyres to suit a particular mining site. By varying rubber compounds heat resistance and cut resistance can be altered. Changing the tread depth can optimise TKPH rating and tyre life.
Reconditioning is a cheaper alternative to buying new tyres for large or heavily constructed tyres such as OTR tyres, port tyres, tractor tyres or forestry logger tyres. Retreading is very cost effective for foam filled tyres because the foam does not need to be replaced when the tread wears away. Retreading or relugging is also a viable option where new tyres are not available in the desired pattern.
