This may be in the form of various types of partial dentures as well as full denture sets and mouthguards. Sometimes treatment may be as simple as a polish and clean. At other times a denture repair or alteration may be required. For some clients, new dentures will be the reason for your visit. There are even times when we are asked to make dentures prior to natural teeth being extracted.

These days dentists strive to keep as many healthy natural teeth as possible. As Dental Prosthetists we find ourselves making as many or more partial dentures than ever before. None the less, I would suggest that complete upper and lower (maxillary and mandibular) dentures are the mainstay of our work.
There are various options when it comes to materials or a combination thereof. There are Chrome alloy partials, acrylic partials or flexible partials (or a combination). We need to access which material is best used in each situation for each patient. Partial dentures help to maintain the remaining natural teeth while improving appearance and function (eating).
It's Murphy's Law of dentistry that your denture will fracture prior to a public engagement, going to dinner or heading out to work - the time you can least afford the vulnerability of missing teeth. Depending on the nature of the the failure, we can usually fix your denture either while you wait or within several hours.
The lower jaw has little suction due to the tongue poking through the middle. This allows the muscles of facial expression etc to dislodge the denture. Practice and control usually solve this issue but occasionally something more may be required. This is where implants can be used as an anchor.
Implant retained dentures aren't for everyone so when a patient considers them, I would first refer to a specialist in the field of placing the implants to investigate your suitability and help to consider the way forward.Often only two implants are required and the denture remains removable for ease of maintenance.

If comfortable, dentures - (especially the lower), should be removed at night. If it isn't comfortable or convenient to leave them out, give your dentures a good clean then massage your gums with a finger or soft tooth brush before sleeping with them in. Start by cleaning the dentures with a soft toothbrush in a circular motion using denture toothpaste.
