Dr Matthew B Cohen is the Principal Dentist and owner of Happy Smiles Dentist in Hornsby. He graduated in 2005 from Sydney University with degrees in Dentistry and Science. Matthew has also gained a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry in Oral Implants from Sydney University. He has worked on the Central Coast, Sydney, Bathurst and Orange.
Matthew has also gained experience as a Senior House Officer in the Maxillofacial Unit at the Royal Derby Hospital in the United Kingdom. When I first visited Happy Smiles I needed a lot of work to be done. Dr Matthew took time to go through and explain different options. He created a treatment plan which has now been completed to a very high standard. Thank you very much for the doctors and all the staff. Today, my youngest son's teeth suddenly hurt. We tried to call and ask, because there are still 30 minutes to get off work, but the doctor Matthew let us go to deal with it. Dr Matthew is very professional and children will not be afraid. I hadn't been to the dentist in over 10 years due to dental anxiety. I then experienced a dental emergency which Happy Smiles accommodated for it to be addressed the next day.
Staff were extremely empathetic, patient and competent which made returning for serious dental work a much more manageable task.
I now feel comfortable returning for regular dental work/check-ups knowing I can trust Matt and the staff to look after my dental needs in a kind and caring way.

I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience at Happy Smiles. I have had a lifetime fear & dread of dentists after some unpleasant childhood experiences. As I required some major work ie an extraction, bone graft, bridge & 2 crowns, Dr. Mattthew Cohen suggested IV sedation. I’m so glad I gave it a try. It alleviated all my nerves and was a totally pleasant experience. Today I had my final appointment and I was so relaxed going in. Highly recommend Happy Smiles Dentist,Hornsby. I was very scared to get my wisdom tooth extracted as I never had a tooth extraction before, but Dr Matthew was amazing at putting me at ease and making me feel comfortable. And the amazing job that he did, I did not feel any pain from the next day, neither was there any swelling. Such a wonderful experience compared to the horror stories usually associated with extraction.Totally recommend getting any dental work or extraction done here as you are in very good hands. I highly recommend Happy Smiles Dentist! Dr Matthew Cohen is the best dentist I’ve ever had, and he’s such a lovely guy. He’s professional and knowledgeable and explains the processes really well. He’s done quite a lot of work on my teeth, and I know I’m in safe hands. Matthew is also very kind and considerate, which I really appreciate. I love his sense of humour, too. I was aprehensive about going to a new dentist but I felt very comfortable in his care. I had smile on my face the whole time and having a good laugh at a dentist of all places!
You can tell he really cares for each patient and wants the experience to be as pleasant as possible.

Dr. Cohen is friendly, thorough and an excellent dentist. I feel totally at ease at any check up and procedure, and am comfortable that my dental care is being performed with great care and competency. Extensive restoration work on my front teeth, various other cavities and decay has been largely pain free and I’m really pleased with the results - both visually and structurally. I Definitely recommend Dr. Cohen and the team at happy smiles!
