Sara-Jane Cleland is a university qualified Naturopath, Herbalist, Nutritionist and Food Educator with over 12 years clinical experience. She runs a busy practice in the Southern Highlands, offering Naturopathy Consultations, Bodywork and Cooking Schools. Sara-Jane's success in restoring the health and vitality of her clients is through connection.

Connection to the healing power of nature with food as medicine and herbal medicine, connection to family, community and most importantly connection to oneself, worthy of self-care. Sara-Jane is passionate about women's health, supporting women through all life phases - puberty, fertility, mothering, menopause and ageing.

My journey as a health practitioner began over 20 years ago as a Yoga teacher and organically evolved to working as a Remedial Massage therapist. In 2006, I completed a bachelor degree in Naturopathy at the University of Western Sydney and in 2007 a Graduate Diploma in Naturopathy at the University of Western Sydney.
Naturopathy 'nature cure' is a system of health care using the healing power of nature, treating not only the symptoms but also the underlying causes. The emphasis is to support the body's own inherent capacity to bring about balance and naturally heal the whole self.

The strength of Naturopathy lies in its ability to effectively treat functional disorders which conventional western medicine has limited treatment options for example Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Auto-immune diseases, Fibromyalgia, Insomnia, Hormonal imbalances, Anxiety and chronic stress.A Naturopath aims to give you more responsibility for your health by facilitating a healthy attitude, lifestyle and diet.
These cooking schools have been created to inspire change to a healthy balanced way of eating. Information and ideas have been sourced from different diets including the Paleo diet, a Wholefood diet, a Raw food diet and a Pescatarian diet. The recipes reflect these ideas and are therefore vegetarian with some fish and chicken, gluten free, low grain, sugar free and dairy free except for yoghurt and kefir.
Sara-Jane has been a Massage therapist for 18 years with ongoing training in many different styles of Massage Therapy, including Thai Massage, Remedial Massage, Myofascial Release Therapy, Craniosacral therapy, Ka Huna Massage, Lymphatic drainage and Energetic Bodywork. Her unique style has evolved, incorporating skills gained from experience and training, to offer a deeply relaxing, therapeutic and restorative massage.
Dancing Freedom is a conscious dance practice, a moving meditation practice with the intention of aligning life with love and awareness - living consciously! A free-form dance practice that blends the medicine of dance with the medicine of ceremony and co-creation. Dancing freedom takes you on a guided dance journey through an elemental wave of Earth, Water, Fire, Air & Ether - deepening your connection to life and living.

I started seeing Sara-Jane 6 months ago, at which point I had been suffering from the beginning of IBD with severe symptoms for over 2 months. I had lost over 10kg in that time and everything i ate ran straight through me. I was exhausted and confused by the lack of care from doctors. SaraJane was kind, knowledgeable and professional. Had a fantastic time at Sara's cooking class "Broths & Ferments for Gut Health". So much practical knowledge shared about the science of gut health and a very hands-on demonstration of how to do it yourself. Useful to absolutely anyone, whether you are someone who can eat anything, or someone on a restricted FODMAP diet - we can all do with improving our gut health!

Sara-Jane has been my naturopath since I moved to the Southern Highlands 2 years ago. She is caring, knowledgeable, thorough and a true partner in m health journey. I can not thank Sara Jane enough for taking me to health and happiness!
Last year was tough. It resulted in an operation and the necessary heavy duty antibiotics and post op drugs for recovery. After some months I was living on a diet that largely consisted of unhealthy carbs and sugar to keep me going in a active life. It was a friend that suggested a naturopath maybe is what I needed and after a google search I was so lucky to find Sara Jane.
