Ian Field is a highly experienced and Accredited Specialist Family Lawyer in Mackay and Brisbane with a wide range of knowledge in many aspects of Family Law and Children's matters holding certifications in mediation and collaborative practice in Australia and the UK. Using his first degree in Sociology, from the University of Warwick in England, Ian commenced working in the voluntary sector in the UK.
Elise Foote is a Mackay Family Lawyer at Family Lawyers Mackay and is admitted to practice as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. She is a current member of the Queensland Law Society. Prior to joining Family Lawyers Mackay, Elise worked in the private legal sector as well as the public sector.
After separation couples need to sort out how to divide their asset pool. This is called a 'divorce property settlement'. At Family Lawyers Mackay our Brisbane Divorce Lawyers are aware that our clients are concerned about controlling legal fees, particularly where they may not have a great deal in liquid assets.
The Family Court does not generally have powers to order child support maintenance for children. Maintenance for children is dealt with by the Child Support Agency ('CSA'). All applications for child support (child maintenance) are by way of an application to the CSA. If you are not satisfied with an assessment that has been made using a formula set out in the legislation, then you may seek a review of the assessment with the CSA.

If you are a male do not use Family Lawyers Mackay. Was with them for 1 year and went no where. Would not even give me advice when I asked. They disgust me just to think off them. What a waste of $4000 and my time. Do not use these lazy lawyers. Worst in Mackay, when they are hear. They are Brisbane based. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE.

I have found everyone I have encountered at Family Lawyers Mackay very helpful. Ian Field whom I dealt with provided me with a comprehensive summary of the issues, including some I had not even considered before. And then, rather than embark on a long, hostile and expensive litigation, he brokered a negotiated resolution acceptable to both parties. The final result was very much more than what I had hoped for and the costs were significantly reduced based on his negotiations.

I have used Family Lawyers Mackay for a difficult child custody issue and they worked through the complexities very well... Ian and Elise in particular did a great job and were very patient.
