If you have diabetes, your feet are at risk of serious complications including permanent damage to nerves and reduced blood flow to the feet. Assessment by a Podiatrist can quickly and easily detect any changes to blood flow and sensation in the feet. Early signs of complications can often be detected without the patient experiencing any symptoms.
Orthotics are physical devices created to fit inside your regular footwear. They provide support, correction of abnormal foot biomechanics and are used to improve function of the foot and lower limb. Orthotics may be customised to an individual or prefabricated from a generic template. Orthotics have a large number of uses and are not only used by athletes.
Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) is an exciting new therapy aimed at treating chronic musculoskeletal conditions. ESWT is used worldwide to stimulate healing in people suffering chronic pain i.e. If your pain started less than 3 months ago, please see us for alternative treatment options. ESWT works by delivering high energy acoustic soundwaves through the handpiece into the body.
Ingrown toenails (also known as onychocryptosis) are one of the most common complaints affecting the feet. They occur when a piece of nail pearces the nail sulcus adjacent to the nail and begins to grow into the skin. Often caused by trauma, tight ill-fitting footwear, incorrect cutting of nails and irregular nail shape, ingrown nails will commonly appear red and swollen, painful, they may be infected and discharge puss.
